2014-02: Quantifying Salt Concentration on Pavement, Phase 2


The objective of this effort is to develop a better way to build upon and combine previously attempted approaches to measure or predict representative salt concentration on the pavement to a precision that can be used for tactical planning of salt application rates in advance of and during winter storms. This new method will consider past applications and timing, plowing, precipitation type and rate, surface temperature, traffic, pavement type, wind speed, etc.
