InTrans releases En Route, annual report for 2024 calendar year

2024 InTrans Annual Report displayed atop easel2024 was a year of activity—and growth—for the Institute for Transportation (InTrans) and its centers and programs.

Their efforts throughout the year resulted in guides, publications, and tools that reflect new developments and aim to standardize processes. Those works helped to improve safety, develop strategies for more resilient roadways, and streamline maintenance of existing infrastructure.

En Route, the annual report for InTrans, provides a moment for us to stop and admire the progress we achieved in the previous year.

The recently published annual report for calendar year 2024 includes a summary of the work performed by the institute’s 14 centers and programs as well as the year’s highlights and accomplishments. The new report can be downloaded in PDF format.

“As researchers, we are always eager for the next project, newest idea, or something more to better understand. But as we look forward, we must not forget everything that has come before,” said Shauna Hallmark, InTrans Director.

She added, “So, take your time as you peruse En Route and appreciate—as I have—all that we have accomplished in 2024. It has been truly a year to remember.”

InTrans’ achievements in 2024 also included completing nearly 80 projects, organizing and holding 100+ events, and engaging with students, colleagues, practitioners, and industry to further our mission.

In addition to detailing the events held and publications produced in 2024, the annual report includes the following highlights, among others:

  • Major accomplishments from the Bridge Engineering Center, Center for Transportation Research and Education, National Concrete Pavement Technology Center, Program for Sustainable Pavement Engineering and Research, and Real-Time Analytics of Transportation Data (REACTOR) Laboratory
  • Awards and honors received by InTrans staff and students
  • Insights into InTrans by the numbers

“Our labors to adapt, change, and challenge the constructs of transportation are ongoing, but by continuing to build a stronger, more stable, more data-driven future, we never fail to impact research and practice,” said Hallmark.
